Dear PEAR members and Antarctic friends,
We would like to invite you to our upcoming April PEAR forum. We have an exciting (and very important topic) scheduled and are looking forward to some great discussion.
Topic: Tackling mis and disinformation: 2048 and other Antarctic urban myths
Where: On zoom, at https://utas.zoom.us/j/88427228208?from=addon
When: 24th April, 11am UTC+10; 6pm UTC-7; 1am UTC.
What’s the plan? We’re changing things up a little bit and will be using this season to conduct an informal panel discussion with two scholars whose work examines the phenomenon of Antarctic mis and disinformation: Lecturer in Media and Communication, Linda Hunt, and data specialist and current PhD student, Georgie Hicks. As always, we’ll follow this up with some general Q&A with the opportunity for public engagement-related updates.
Who is this for? Anyone with an interest in Antarctic public engagement, including researchers, practitioners, and communications professionals.
More details on the overall aim of the PEAR forums are below, and please feel free to get in touch with any questions or ideas.
Hope to see you in a few weeks!
