We are pleased to announce two key updates to its team: the appointment of Agnes Ganichaud as the new Administrative Officer and the transition of Angharad Downes into the role of Science and Operations Officer.
Meet Agnes, our new Administrative Officer
Agnes joined SCAR in December 2024, bringing a rich background in science and project management. Agnes worked for most of her career as a scientific translator, then a project manager in both the language and publishing industries. Her background is in science, with a chemistry degree from the University of Sussex and a few years spent in a medicinal chemistry laboratory. Her keen interest in science and the environment brought her to SCAR, where she is excited to work with Antarctic specialists and learn about that amazing region.
In her new role, Agnes will ensure the smooth operation of SCAR’s administrative functions. She will support major international meetings, manage correspondence, and assist SCAR’s leadership and various working groups.
Please join us in welcoming Agnes to the team! She can be reached at agnes@scar.org.
Angharad’s new role as Science and Operations Officer
We are also thrilled to announce that Angharad Downes, who previously served as SCAR’s Administrative Assistant, has transitioned into a new role as Science and Operations Officer (maternity cover).
In this position, Angharad will work closely with the Executive Director, coordinating SCAR’s subsidiary groups, facilitating the community’s contributions to international projects, and maintaining SCAR’s relationships with global partners.
Angharad remains a vital part of SCAR’s mission and can still be reached at angharad@scar.org.
